As all of you editors-in-training had better already know, yesterday marked the end of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. Also known as my favorite week of the year. But also known as insanity for editors.
The shows and presentations are spread out all over the city, from Chelsea to the Upper East side, and usually overlapping time slots. This means some seriously long days, detailed planning, and a good dose of chaos.
Lesson of the week: Fashion Week is the beginning of the cycle. Editors fill notebooks with show descriptions and gather information from each of these seemingly just-for-fun events. This is where the pages and trends filling all those newsstands come from.
But despite the stress of it all, it is exhilarating. Be it Elise Øverland‘s ice skating themed presentation or Badgley Mischka’s hybrid runway of their infamous gowns and their contemporary Mark & James line (which I was lucky enough to attend!).
Did I mention that I love Fashion Week?
